THRESHOLDS
OUR APPROACH
How We Do This Work
At Thresholds, we believe that healing is not something that can be rushed.
It happens gradually, through safety and gentle reconnection to the body.
Our approach is rooted in the understanding that many women today live in prolonged states of stress, survival, and disconnection. This can impact not only mental health, but physical well-being and identity (and the ability to experience joy.)
Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we focus on creating spaces where women can begin to feel safe enough to listen to themselves again.
We Are Trauma-Informed
We recognize that many people carry experiences of hardship and overwhelm that may not always be visible.
Because of this, we prioritize:
• emotional safety
• choice and autonomy
• non-judgmental environments
• pacing that respects individual needs
We do not believe in “pushing” people to heal. Instead, we believe in creating supportive conditions where healing can unfold naturally.
We Center the Nervous System
Our work is grounded in the understanding that the nervous system plays a central role in how women experience regulation and connection.
Many women are taught to ignore their bodies in order to keep functioning. Over time, this can lead to burnout, disconnection, and chronic overwhelm.
We support practices that help women:
• understand their stress responses
• recognize when they are in survival mode
• build tools for gentle regulation
• reconnect to their internal signals
We Honor the Body as Knowledge
We believe the body is not something to control or fix, but something to listen to.
Our approach encourages women to develop:
• body awareness
• self-trust
• emotional literacy
• attunement to physical and internal rhythms
This includes honoring the cyclical nature of women’s health, including hormonal patterns, energy fluctuations, and natural periods of rest and renewal.
We Integrate Care, Community, and Creativity
Healing does not happen in isolation.
It happens through supportive environments, shared understanding, and meaningful connection.
At Thresholds, we integrate:
• educational resources
• community dialogue
• creative expression
• restorative practices
We believe creativity, play, and self-expression are not luxuries — they are essential parts of well-being.
We Work Collaboratively
Thresholds is not centered on a single practitioner or perspective.
Our long-term vision includes collaborating with:
• licensed professionals
• somatic practitioners
• holistic health educators
• trauma-informed facilitators
This ensures that the support offered through our community is responsible, ethical, and grounded in diverse expertise.
A Gentle Invitation
We do not promise quick fixes or instant transformation.
Instead, we offer an invitation:
To slow down.
To reconnect.
To build a relationship with your body that is based on care, safety, and respect.
Healing begins at the threshold — the moment you allow yourself to pause and listen.
Read our guidelines
We believe that healing, rest, and personal transformation do not happen through pressure, hierarchy, or urgency — but through consent, care, and access to supportive environments. This framework outlines how we practice care, what participants can expect, and the ethical boundaries that guide all Thresholds programming.
Thresholds exists to create spaces where women can reconnect with their bodies, their creativity, and their sense of safety in community. Many participants come from backgrounds where access to consistent, culturally responsive wellness resources has been limited. While our programming is open to diverse participants, we intentionally prioritize accessibility and inclusivity for those who have historically been underserved by traditional wellness systems.
Thresholds primarily serves women who are seeking supportive spaces for wellbeing, regulation, and personal growth. Our work recognizes that healing and growth are ongoing processes, not quick solutions. At its core, Thresholds is grounded in a simple belief, that sustainable wellbeing requires both personal support and supportive environments. We aim to create spaces where individuals can, slow down from constant survival demands, access tools for emotional resilience, connect with community develop long-term self-support practices
